The DriverI'm a car enthusiast with family roots in the American auto industry. Austin by Austin is where I get to share my passion with the world.
I'm a global supply chain management and marketing double major at Arkansas State University who has bitten off more than I can chew, but I always seem to find a way to bite down in the end. Never stop finding new roads. |
Academics
As a senior honors student at Arkansas State University, I'm currently working on my honors thesis project. I have partnered with the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas to create delivery routes for their 118 agencies. Yes, I love transportation. Anyway, I'm helping the Food Bank shift their inventory management system from a pull to a push system. The executives currently set goals as to how much food they are going to get into a county based on the meal gap in a particular county; however, they are at the mercy of the agencies and if they decide to come and pick up food or not. As distance from the food bank increases, likelihood to pick up food decreases, which is a driver behind this initiative. The initial plan will be designed to deliver 1,000,000 pounds of food per year to Northeast Arkansas with a 10-15 year long term plan to deliver 7,000,000.
Professional Experience
Over a 10 week period, I had the opportunity work for Target as an operations management intern at the regional distribution center in Topeka, KS. The main goal of the internship wasn't to necessarily learn all about distribution centers, all though it was a side effect, but it was to give me transferable leadership skills. Daily I had the opportunity to build plans for a team of 12-20 warehouse workers to deliver goods to the retail stores and to meet guest expectations. During my 10 weeks I was able to develop myself as a leader, identify my leadership strengths, and improve on my opportunities.
